Problem:
Tramp iron in cocoa beans was damaging processing equipment at Cook Chocolate Company in Chicago, IL, USA.
Solution:
Bags of cocoa beans were emptied through an Eriez Grate Magnet. This permanent, non-electric separator allowed the cocoa beans to fall through freely while holding any iron that got mixed with the beans during harvesting. Accumulated tramp iron was periodically removed from the grates.
The Steven F. Whitman & Son, Inc. plant had a similar problem, also solved with Eriez Grate Magnets.
